TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

As a teacher my goal is to help students develop creative minds that can absorb everything that is happening in the world around them and express it in a meaningful way. I will give my students the tools necessary to activate their creative minds and look at the world through a different lense. Whether or not my students want to have a future in music, I want to keep them engaged and show them that music affects them in their everyday life.  Not only will I show my students examples of famous musical works their implementation of the fundamentals of music theory, I will keep my students active and show them how to make music on their own. Music is a beautiful way to express emotions when words can’t.

In my experience coaching athletes in the gym and teaching students in the classroom, I have found the importance of being adaptive to the many different teaching style students require. While studying Howard Gardner’s 9 types of intelligence, I have changed my teaching style and know what it takes to be an effective teacher. It is my job to make each student feel represented and lead them on the path of creativity.
